Hmm.  I don't remember the thread.  My mind must be slipping.
Was that the ancient "umount -a" segfault?  Long since fixed.

Yes, reboot works on x86. It also seems to work on the powerpc boxes at
work. Could you drop strace into the image, and see what you can see by
attaching it to init?
