md driver stops system on rescuedisk

Hi,

I want to install slink on my pc, but the kernel on the rescue disk won't boot. It stops after printing "md driver 0.36.3 ....". 

The system information:
architecture: i386, amd athlon
mainbord: k7m asus
memory: 128 mb
scsi : none
cd-rom: atapi.
hd quantum fireball 12 gb.

How do i fix this? By making a custom kernel without the md driver on a boot floppy?
