I don't understand why you keep saying that:

<apharris@arroz:po> rm C.po 
<apharris@arroz:po> make C.po
make: *** No rule to make target `C.po'.  Stop.

If the file is derived, it should be made by the Makefile and not be
in CVS, nor be edited.

But if that is so, then my revisions to C.po were in error.  In fact,
there is a long string of them.

What file is C.po derived from, assuming you are right that it is
derived?
