udma 66

i have an hdd IBM djna 13.5 Gb UDMA 66 with a motherboard Abit BE-6.
I have changed the slot of the hdd in ide2 and i have installed the Linux.
I have recompiled
the kernel 2.2.13 with options for udma (the options of the kernel).
I now boot linux with floppy disk (I didn't install lilo).
Is the hdparm necessary?
What must I do now?
I want to put the hdd in slot ide3 (for udma 66).
How can i resolve my problem?

 Thanks
