This is (another) update on bug #31509, "Cannot boot IBM 380Z Thinkpad".
I downloaded the most recent "resc1440tecra.bin" rescue disk image from
the 2.1.6 bootdisks directory, wrote the floppy with my desktop Debian
system using "dd if=resc1440tecra.bin ..." as in the installation
directions, and tried booting the Thinkpad with this floppy. Got the
same message as in my most recent tries with the 2.1.5 versions: "A20
gating failed." Sorry I couldn't report a happier result.
Don't know if it is much of a help for the boot-floppies maintainers,
but "Tom's Root/Boot Disk" (http://www.toms.net/rb/) worked fine for
booting the Thinkpad.
