Bug#32269: cfdisk still fails if no kernel param set
Package: boot-floppies
Version: 2.1.6
Thanks for the new version Enrique!
Manually using fdisk (2.9g) seems to work ok now. But there are still 2
problems:
Minor: View partition table ( looks like fdisk -l | awk ...) says
active=NO for all partitions, though /dev/hda1 is active according to
fdisk _and_ cfdisk. (fdisk shows an "*" under boot).
Second: cfdisk 0.8l still fails immediately if I do not set kernel
parameters hda=1232,255,63 with:
FATAL ERROR: Bad primary partition
Guess cfdisk does not like my hda2 [type 0x0f Win95_EXTENDED (LBA) ]
spanning cylinders 65-1232, but seeing a disk geometry of 1024,255,63.
Simple Fix: Unoverlookable hint to set kernel parameters for disks
w. more than 1024 cylinders.
Better Fix: Make cfdisk behave like fdisk: Use 1024 cyls if no more are
known.
Best Fix: Give better diagnostics (recommend kernel param) instead of
BAD_PRIMARY_PARTITION, if detectable within cfdisk.
Regards,
Michael.
