I somehow have the gut feeling that this problem is quite similar tha
with the changelog entry, since now the changelog reads correctly:

 
The changelog entry  is performed from the task_diff script so if there is a problem with the control file it should reside into the sec-blend-gen-control  script.

I tested the metapackage creation on debian-science with blends-gsoc and the radiance package appears into the simulations task normally into Recommends header. Maybe you tested the new blends-dev using an old/outdated udd instance which did not contain the latest packages/tasks from debian-science? Maybe that is the issue. Can you check again? If this is not the case let me know :-)
