[cdd] More on viewing files
Hi again, i don't know if this list is the place to discuss such things,
but it's about the sensible-"something" that i said on the mail quoted by
Andreas.
The case is that i found a "thing" lots better than the pager or
www-browser comand vs. sensible-{pager,browser}.
It's the 'see' command that i found by mistake :)
This one (that is, in fact, run-mailcap) uses de mime database found in
~/.mime.types and /etc/mime.types to decide the file type and uses
~/.mailcap and /etc/mailcap to decide which application to run with that
file
As well as 'pager' is a link to (usually) less and 'editor' to vim (the
ones used 'till now on cdd), run-mailcap has the two equivalents: 'see'
and 'edit', respectively, and it can be tunned to fit the user's
needs/likes through ~/.mime.types and ~/.mailcap, so although there's no
need for a viewer/editor for ANY file type, i think that this see/edit
solution is much more cute and flexible (just on the debian way ;P)
Regards,
Lluis
