It may be worth browsing the archives of the main beowulf list at 
www.beowulf.org. There isn't really any single way to install a 
"Beowulf" - every cluster tends to be unique. There are easy ways to 
maintain infrastructure and several experts on message-passing, 
algorithms and parallel programming on the list.

In terms of Debian packaging, we have ATLAS and LAM and MPICH and
quite a lot of other useful things. It may be worth thinking about
your problem set and what you want to achieve and then putting questions
here and to the Beowulf list.
