In the one cluster I've had to set up so far (current
kit: 1 master, 3 computes, 4 workstations; all Athlons),
we used FAI. I'd use it again, but would pay greater
attention to keeping its setup up-to-date as users
demand "just one more package", and would insist
on using a local Debian mirror.

A list of war stories, or pointers to them, might be a
Good Thing (tm). If and when the compute nodes in
the aforementioned cluster get upgraded, or we get
a second cluster, I'll keep more detailed notes.
