Not really, but I use it at home and I think you could use it for clusters
if configured properly. Just throw in a scratch space for parallel I/O.

In the current state it isn't that configurable, I'm sure you could get around
that by introducing /etc/diskless.

And I don't think that the directory layout is all that correct. You obviously
have to go into the /var/lib/diskless and tweak stuff there which is in
conflict with the definition of "localstatedir".  So the correct way is to ask
the user where to install the diskless root. That is a more desirable
behavior.

Default could be "/usr/local/diskless" or "/home/diskless" Another reason
to move out of /var is that var usually gets its own partition and diskless
is big. But really it contains files that are modified by users, especially 
on the diskless clients, thus it violates common conventions. This point is 
kind of open to discussion, but I guess the reasoning is correct.

Also the documentation needs some attention. The examples about
configuring NFS were inaccurate IIRC.

Glad that you're adopting the diskless package and putting work in it, it's 
much needed.
