I just got back from Linux Expo today. While I was there we had the
privelidge of running MOSIX on our cluster. I've seen it balance the
loads on the machines very nicely doing some demo jobs (and got to see
the loads on the machines at HUJI via telnet). We're still going to
test it more to see how it fares in real applications in the coming
week(s).
It is currently a very good step towards making an SMP system out of a
cluster. However, it is important to note that MOSIX will not
magically turn your cluster into an SMP box (many people at the expo
were confused about this).
I don't think you'll be able to package it in binary form as it's
essentially distributed as a new kernel tree for the 2.2.7 kernel
(there's reasoning behind this however). I guess source would be
possible though. There are plans by the MOSIX crew for the next
release to be a patch or two to the normal kernel tree.
