Bug / Regression report: bullseye-backports kernel 5.15.0-0.bpo.3-amd64 kills Apple Magic Mouse 2 scrolling functionality

Dear all,

according to https://backports.debian.org/FAQ/, bugs found in packages from backports should be reported to the debian-backports mailing list.

I would therefore like to report what I suspect is a bug or regression in the current bullseye-backports kernel 5.15.0-0.bpo.3-amd64: Booting 5.15.0-0.bpo.3-amd64 obviously kills the scrolling functionality of my Apple Magic Mouse 2. While movements and clicks continue to function normally, all scroll functionality is gone. Machine is a Fujitsu Lifebook E5510, 'uname -r' output is

5.15.0-0.bpo.3-amd64

According to /var/log/dpkg.log, I've installed the relevant packages yesterday, which coincidences with the loss of scrolling functionality:

2022-02-17 17:32:30 install linux-headers-5.15.0-0.bpo.3-common:all <none> 5.15.15-2~bpo11+1 2022-02-17 17:32:30 status half-installed linux-headers-5.15.0-0.bpo.3-common:all 5.15.15-2~bpo11+1 2022-02-17 17:32:32 status unpacked linux-headers-5.15.0-0.bpo.3-common:all 5.15.15-2~bpo11+1 2022-02-17 17:32:32 install linux-headers-5.15.0-0.bpo.3-amd64:amd64 <none> 5.15.15-2~bpo11+1 2022-02-17 17:32:32 status half-installed linux-headers-5.15.0-0.bpo.3-amd64:amd64 5.15.15-2~bpo11+1 2022-02-17 17:32:32 status unpacked linux-headers-5.15.0-0.bpo.3-amd64:amd64 5.15.15-2~bpo11+1 2022-02-17 17:32:32 upgrade linux-headers-amd64:amd64 5.15.5-2~bpo11+1 5.15.15-2~bpo11+1 2022-02-17 17:32:32 status half-configured linux-headers-amd64:amd64 5.15.5-2~bpo11+1 2022-02-17 17:32:32 status unpacked linux-headers-amd64:amd64 5.15.5-2~bpo11+1 2022-02-17 17:32:32 status half-installed linux-headers-amd64:amd64 5.15.5-2~bpo11+1 2022-02-17 17:32:33 status unpacked linux-headers-amd64:amd64 5.15.15-2~bpo11+1 2022-02-17 17:32:33 install linux-image-5.15.0-0.bpo.3-amd64:amd64 <none> 5.15.15-2~bpo11+1 2022-02-17 17:32:33 status half-installed linux-image-5.15.0-0.bpo.3-amd64:amd64 5.15.15-2~bpo11+1 2022-02-17 17:32:37 status unpacked linux-image-5.15.0-0.bpo.3-amd64:amd64 5.15.15-2~bpo11+1 2022-02-17 17:32:37 upgrade linux-image-amd64:amd64 5.15.5-2~bpo11+1 5.15.15-2~bpo11+1 2022-02-17 17:32:37 status half-configured linux-image-amd64:amd64 5.15.5-2~bpo11+1
2022-02-17 17:32:37 status unpacked linux-image-amd64:amd64 5.15.5-2~bpo11+1

When I boot the *previous* bullseye-backports kernel 5.15.0-0.bpo.2-amd64, the Apple Magic Mouse 2's scrolling functionality returns immediately, so the problem is reproducible.

Thank you very much.

With best regards

Christian Hoffmann
