You don't need to wait for a backport if you don't want to.

The restic downloadable is a single statically linked binary, so it is very easy
to download and install without the need for a distro package.

Just go to the releases page on github, scroll down to the assets section & download the correct binary for your processor. Once you have unziped the binary, you only need
to copy it into /usr/local/bin as root.

Alternatively, if you already have an older restic release installed you can run
restic self-update and will automate the above process.
