Thank you for your very complete explanations.
Indeed, the dependency ensuring compatibility with softs written for cpu's i386 like Steam has not been added to Backports which makes version 460.39-1 ~ bpo10 + 1: amd64 arm64 i386 incompatible with Steam ;-(
It seems to be the same with the Bullseye and SID 460.67-1 version: amd64 arm64 i386.
So I had to purge the installation of the Nvidia drivers from Backports (460.39-1~bpo10+1: amd64 arm64 i386) to then download NVIDIA-Linux-x86_64-460.67.run from the Nvidia website and install it by choosing to install the optional i386 dependencies for Steam and there everything work for me.
Not all Debian users have the knowledge to do this and some will find themselves stuck not being able to run Steam ...
It would be great if your team would take care in the future to provide these i386 dependencies which are indispensable for many of us !!
