So, remmina depends on libssh-4 (>= 0.8.0~20170825.94fa1e38).
The newer version of libssh-4 is '0.8.1-1~bpo9+1' which falls in the
category of '>= 0.8.0~20170825.94fa1e38'
but still an update of libssh-4 would remove 'remmina' ?!
Briefly: an updated remmina backport has already been uploaded and
built. It should appear in the archive shortly (next dinstall starts at
1952 UTC).

To answer "why" in detail - from the libssh changelog:
libssh (0.8.0-1) unstable; urgency=medium
[...]
* Remove the libssh_threads library that is not built upstream anymore.
Add Breaks against packages linking against this library
The Breaks that was added includes:
Breaks: remmina (<< 1.2.31.2+dfsg-1+),
The version of remmina in stretch-backports is 1.2.31.2+dfsg-1~bpo9+1.
$ dpkg --compare-versions 1.2.31.2+dfsg-1~bpo9+1 '<<' 1.2.31.2+dfsg-1+ && echo yes || echo no
yes
hope this helps,
