Re: amdgpu for jessie-backports?

Hi all,
I do backports llvm-3.8 and mesa-12.1 from testing/unstable/experimental for my personnal machine and it goes quite straight forward.
The only things I did was to remove amd64 from the list of architecture on which all llvm self tests pass.

My two cents.

There's no plan yet.
A backport of xxv-amdgpu alone wouldn't be helpful, because it uses
glamor for X acceleration and glamor uses OpenGL.
Therefore we also need a backport of mesa with amdgpu support, but
this is currently blocked by a too old version of LLVM.

So the first step would be to backport a newer LLVM, preferably either
LLVM 3.8 or the soon to be released LLVM 3.9 (currently only in
experimental; required for OpenGL >= 4.2 on AMD's GCN cards).
Then backport the current version of mesa w/ amdgpu support and
finally backport xxv-amdgpu.

If someone steps up to do the backport of LLVM I'd do the rest.

Btw. which graphic card do you have?

Thanks,
Andreas
