It turns out all of my jessie machines need backported kernels, which (I think) means I can't you use union-type=overlayfs. The version of sid is not installable in jessie (at least) because of the great C++ transition. I guess it might or might not be acceptable from backports ftp-masters point of view. On the one hand, it's a bug fix, on the other hand, it's a bug that only occurs in stable+backports. Are there any plans for such a backport? If not, and if backports ftp-masters don't veto, I could have a look at it. I'll probably try for my own use anyway. d
