gtk isn't something that's trivial to backport. I suggest contacting
shotwell's maintainer to see if there's any way to make a backport
work with the current version of gtk in wheezy, and if not, ask the
gnome team for help.
Alternatively, if you're going to start backporting large chunks of
the gtk/gnome stack, you may as well just upgrade to jessie.
