Thanks for your email. I'm new to packaging and backporting, so I don't understand why this was rejected, although I suspect it might be because of the issues Vincent mentioned on the backports mailing list (see below). At any rate, I'd be happy to fix the problems if you could please tell me what needs to be done.

There's some unwanted noise in your backported yasm package, i.e.
here's what the debdiff looks like right now:
