Aaaah! This absolutly makes sense, just seems to be wildly unknown, so please document this prominently in the devscripts package.

IMHO it would be desirable to have this fixed for wheezy in wheezy r0, yes.
(But please don't delay the release for this, it's totally fine to have this in wheezy r1 and jessie r0 ;-)
