p.s. the implication is, the problem with detecting your external
display has nothing to do with the lack of identifier strings coming
from lspci (i.e. it's not that your kernel does "not detect" this
hardware, but simply that lspci doesn't have the strings to display to
you, as they come from the pci.ids file)

So look elsewhere to solve the external display problem. Maybe you need
an Xorg backport too?
