Re: Tesseract.

Hi,

Here are:
https://launchpad.net/~nutznboltz/+archive/tesseract/+sourcepub/1729019/+listing-archive-extra
plenty of missing in Debian 6 language packages w/ the updated program itself. Can't it be easily backported to D6 ones it is in Ubuntu?
Only packages that are within Debian testing are allowed to get into squeeze-backports. So you should talk to the responsible people to get the fixes into Debian, Ubuntu is not a base for Debian backports.

Almost one year has passed, the world became a better place, and tesseract 3.02.01 got into testing (in February)! :) Stable has 2.04. While that has 9 language packages, 3.02.01 has 67(!) of them (e.g. Arabic, Hindi, Thai),
and lots of improvement, see:
http://code.google.com/p/tesseract-ocr/wiki/ReleaseNotes
http://packages.debian.org/changelogs/pool/main/t/tesseract/current/changelog
But tesseract 3.02.01 depends (indirrectly) on libc6 2.13 from testing, so requires essentially a dist-upgrade, and wheezy release might be still far,
far away...
So is there perhaps someone who has enought time, ambition, and skills to backport tesseract 3.x to squeeze making thousands happy?

Thank you in advance, and thank you for your work.
