Try telling your package manager to pull virtualbox from
squeeze-backports, that should do the trick.

I should have mentioned that I tried that, the package isn't in squeeze-backports or Squeeze. See:

aptitude install -t squeeze-backports virtualbox
No candidate version found for virtualbox
