As the version 1.8.2 was released mid june, I worked on a backport of MongoDB 1.8.2. It builds cleanly without modification of the source package.
I'm already in contact with the MongoDB maintainers, unfortunately MongoDB got removed from testing a while ago, but I plan to upload MongoDB 2.0 to squeeze-backports as soon as it re-enters testing.
