I think so, locales for firefox should be the same version of firefox.
For exemple I was using firefox 1.1 and upgrade to 1.5, I lost the
french locale :( which wasn't built for this version.
I think if you wait, it should be a backport version, or if you want you
can do the backport and then post on this list.
