You and Daniel must have done this troubleshooting off list (because you
stated previously that you didn't understand his question), instead of where
everyone who gets the list can read and benefit from the learning. When you
work off list you also miss out on the peer-review aspect of discussions on
mailing-lists, which is part of the reason they are so valuable. When all can
see the process, the resolution of one persons trouble helps others avoid the
trouble in future, when it's done in private, only one benefits.

I agree with you. What was that simple thing? I'd like to be able to avoid it.
Are you saying that deleting the preferences file is the way to solve not
being able to see KDE stuff in the repository? I don't understand how that
could work.
