I am considering the purchase of 2 to 5 of them, in hopes that the dismal
local keyboard performance of the r-pi can be fixed. The r-pi has
glacially slow video, 3 frames a second, and its architecture, forcing
all the usual i/o thru a usb2 hub, means it misses several percent of
the keyboard events from its local keyboard. When running potentially
lethal machinery, a missed key event can be both costly in broken tools,
or injury to the operator.

The rock64 claims to have that pinhole blockage fixed. Now that its
shipping, I'm monitoring the forum to see if there are any showstoppers
for my use. If in the next 2 weeks I don't see any, I buy 2, and if the
rpspi.ko module doesn't work, I'll donate one of them to the School
Professor in Sweden that re-wrote that module and made it work on the pi
I have. Since they are claiming pi compatability on the gpio header,
theres a good chance it will Just Work(TM). The application needs the
spi bus to run at 25+ megabits. The pi does a wee bit better than that.

That machine however is in the middle of a job that I need to finish
before I play with the rock64.

Never change horses mid stream.

Cheers, Gene Heskett
