I think it would be possible, but would be interested in seeing if HW accel
is working on armhf/armel, thus redirected X does not help here.
Just to add thought here. Latest kodi-data (from experimental) has in its Depends new dependency added - texlive-fonts-extra which pulls giant load of texlive packages (~1GB, which I think you should anyway demote to suggests as I don't see a point to get entire texlive set to just run kodi) thus something in reverse dependency chain can FTBS on armhf/armel which impacts kodi itself.

The last update broke the build for armhf/armel in experimental and I'm
about to fix it but report from someone actually using the built
packages would be nice.

I have no HW for testing the builds apart from amd64 VMs.

I guess I could try and test it if no-one else with a working set-up volunteers.
