IIRC the network-console images (used on e.g. headless qnap systems) run
one instance on serial (in case you have a cable) and another on the ssh
login session, each beginning (again IIRC) with a menu saying "Start on
this one".
Doing something similar for fb + serial doesn't seem totally infeasible.
