Following a bad edit to /etc/network/interfaces, my Thecus N2100 has zero network connectivity. I have a serial cable, which <sometimes> gives a redboot output. This sometimes aspect is a bit worrying as I have no idea what turns it on/off. I have also tried telnet during boot up, with no success. I used both the default 192.168.1.100 and 192.168.xxx.100 addresses (the IP address used before the typo crept in). What procedure should I use to recover my device? I'm guessing I need to get redboot to work, interrupt the boot process with ^C and execute some command line 'magic'. Disks are large & RAID-1, I realise that these could now be attempting some sort of re-sync/re-build and this could be affecting the boot process. I have tried a number of things already, so the machines state should be considered corrupted, and all assumptions are probably now incorrect. Before the bad edit the machine had one interface active with a static IP address, gateway, and DNS entry. John Ashby. |
