While rsyncing to an usb-disk, the disk was offlined in the middle of a transfer. Attempting a subsequent 'sync' was not a good thing: it blocked and was not able to kill -9 the program. Rebooting the system didn't work either: reboot blocked, but I was able to log into the system. So I did it the hard way; I pulled the plug. After reapplying power to the system, it recovered and now seems to be working normally;) I've used the usb-disk on the orion5x (TS-209II) platform doing similar transfers w/o any problems. Being relatively new to debian, I'm not sure what is needed here...
