Apt-get install php5 problems

Hi all

Wander if any of you are having problems like this, im trying to
install php5 on my Slug but when i do an apt-get i get the following

server:/# apt-get install php5
Reading package lists... Done
Building dependency tree... Done
Some packages could not be installed. This may mean that you have
requested an impossible situation or if you are using the unstable
distribution that some required packages have not yet been created
or been moved out of Incoming.

Since you only requested a single operation it is extremely likely that
the package is simply not installable and a bug report against
that package should be filed.
The following information may help to resolve the situation:

The following packages have unmet dependencies:
 php-pear: Depends: php5-common (>= 5.2.0-8+etch3) but 5.2.0-8+etch1
is to be installed
E: Broken packages

seems to want 5.2.0-8+etch3?

Have tried doing an apt-get update
then apt get upgrade

but still get this error
