Re: Can someone still help with install

This is a long shot, but may be worth a try. When I installed Debian
the first time on a 1G flash drive, I ran out of memory during or
shortly after the partition and formatting phase.

Obviously it looks like you made it past that point, but maybe it is
sill low on memory and finally gives out during apt-install. Is swap
active at this point?

I suggest manually partitioning the drive outside of the NSLU2 on
another Linux box or using a LiveCD. Include a 128MB swap partition.
Then go through the install again. When you get to the partitioning
stage, skip it. Hopefully the Debian installer will recognize the
swap when started and activate it, giving you more memory headroom.

Hi guys

Ok over the past 4 days i have tried every combination i can think of to get
debain to install

I still get to 78% of the system installed and get the same error

Error installing initramfs-tools

the install quits

i have now tried 12 different hard drives, in 3 different external cases
have tried flashing from pc, mac, linux box, i use the update feature to
upgrade the flash do you know if id have any more luck by putting the slug
in update mode and trying to flash it that way? also does the ssh client
effect the install as ive tried putty on pc, osx own ssh client, unbuntus
own ssh client

Is anyone else having this problem, starting to think it could be that there
is something wrong with my slug

or can anyone give me all the options they choose to get there slug
installed?

i copyed this from /var/logs/syslog
