Re: Problem with XFS on NSLU2?

This problem is also discussed at
http://forum.nas-central.org/viewforum.php?f=18
in several topics.

In short it seems to be an alignment/cache flush-issue (as im no kernel
hacker i dont know the details though).

As a consequence there are huge problems on ARM-devices using XFS
beginning with kernels >= 2.6.16. Although the FS *seems* to be consistant
(i.e. copying on/off the xfs partition works without corruption) you cant
use xfs_check or xfs_repair on it (they show lots of errors). Which
renders the FS unusable on the long run (noone wants an uncheckable FS
;)).

Solution: the next best thing to use performance-wise is JFS for a low-end
fileserver (i.e. most NASes) with loads of small files).

Hoping i could be of service
Stefan
