In what sense do you mean "largely incidental" ? On older RISC PCs,
the SCSI interface may be the only way to access a CD drive, which
would be required to install the system. This is certainly the case
for my system, for example, with a nice 2x CD in what was once the
Acorn Multimedia Expansion Module :-)
