Okay, I would guess your kernel (minikernel) is damaged.  Noramlly the
gzip would catch this, but you never know...

Press it in advance, and also press enter afterwards.

Then you can download a kernel serially, as documented at:
http://www.netwinder.org/howto/Firmware-HOWTO-3.html#ss3.7

Basically, you do:
	x c000
	---> send the kernel via xmodem
	j c000
