SLIP on Netwinder

Greetings,

Following the directions on http://stp.ling.uu.se/~perweij/debian_slip.html , I set up a Netwinder as one SLIP host and a powermac as the other. The link didn't work.

The funny thing is, on the netwinder, ping gave:

# ping powermac
PING powermac.homeser.net (192.168.0.130): 56 data bytes
ping: sendto: Operation not permitted
ping: wrote powermac.homeser.net 64 chars, ret=-1

where on the powermac, it just sat there. I therefore suspect something is wrong on the netwinder.

I noticed there's no serial module, just slip, which I modprobed. I had used the serial port to sync a Palm before, so I know that works, and had rebooted since and hadn't started gpilotd (hadn't even started *dm), so no interference. slattach seems to work just fine.

This is running woody and the Debian 2.2.16-netwinder kernel.

Any ideas?
