Bug#621720: apt-get purge apache2-utils fails

In a similar vein, on the same machine, everything the same as before, I get

orwell:/home/faheem# sudo apt-get purge apache2-utils

Some packages could not be installed. This may mean that you have
requested an impossible situation or if you are using the unstable
distribution that some required packages have not yet been created
or been moved out of Incoming.
The following information may help to resolve the situation:

The following packages have unmet dependencies:
apache2.2-common : Depends: apache2-utils but it is not going to be installed
E: Broken packages

This smells like an apache packaging bug, not an apt bug. I'm wondering whether to set this bug to important. If I figure out what is going on, I'll follow up to this bug report.

                                                        Regards, Faheem
