Package: apache-ssl
Version: 1.3.33-6
Severity: normal

apache-ssl refuses to execute php files. The browser instead prompts the user to save the file with
mime-type application/x-httpd-php.

/etc/apache-ssl/httpd.conf has:

  AddType application/x-httpd-php .php
  AddType application/x-httpd-php-source .phps

The problem persists even if one adds in

/etc/apache-ssl/modules.conf:

LoadModule php4_module /usr/lib/apache/1.3/libphp4.so

In particular, I'm trying to run squirrelmail. apache-ssl also doesn't even start with squirrelmail's default
/etc/squirrelmail/apache.conf that lists:

<Directory /usr/share/squirrelmail>
  php_flag register_globals off
  Options Indexes FollowSymLinks
  <IfModule mod_dir.c>
    DirectoryIndex index.php
  </IfModule>

  # access to configtest is limited by default to prevent information leak
  <Files configtest.php>
    order deny,allow
    deny from all
    allow from 127.0.0.1
  </Files>
</Directory>

It will only start if the "php_flag" line is commented out.

You filed the bug http://bugs.debian.org/326694 in Debian BTS
against the package apache-ssl. I'm closing it at *unstable*, but it will
remain open for older distributions.

For more information about this package's removal, read
http://bugs.debian.org/418266. That bug might give the reasons why
this package was removed and suggestions of possible replacements.

Don't hesitate to reply to this mail if you have any question.

Thank you for your contribution to Debian.
