Can you please also post the complete list of enabled modules 
("ls /etc/apache2/mods-enabled").

If you have mod_deflate enabled, can you check whether disabling it 
improves the situation?

As a workaround, you might want to look at MaxRequestsPerChild and/or 
MaxChilds
