This bug has already been fixed. _PLEASE_ look at the list of recently closed bugs before filing new ones. Also, please make sure you use the latest version of the package. 2.2.3-2 was uploaded almost a week ago.

For unknown reasons, the system attempted to install 2.2.3-1 instead of 2.2.3-2 for apache2.2-common, even though I'd done an update on Sunday evening, about 8 PM CT to make certain I had the latest packages. (It did successfully install the apache2 2.2.3-2 package.) I've just checked my /var/cache/apt/archives directory, and it contains the 2.2.3-1 package. I do not understand what happened.

I have just tested this. apache2.2-common 2.2.3-2 loaded, and now apache2 fails to run, silently -- it won't start at all. I suspect another dependency error -- here it is. In part, the apache2.2 common requires that I enable mod_authn_files as a separate module in order to user AuthUserFile.

And now the server is up and running, but the server offers to download PHP files instead of running them. There's some very squirrely stuff in these updates. If you want more bug reports, please let me know.

Regards,
 Moshe
