Alright, so the php4 module obviously works, it's the apache-ssl
configuration that's breaking for you.

Right, installed, but most obviously not being loaded by apache-ssl.

If there's nothing terribly sensitive in your configuration, could you
perhaps forward me a tarball of /etc/apache/ and /etc/apache-ssl/ ?
(removing any SSL certs you may have in those directories, though I tend
to keep mine in /etc/ssl/, everyone is different). :)
