It seems indeed clear up the problem.
The obvious difference is that no
 /tmp/session_mm_apache0.mem
file is created anymore, only the usual
 session_mm_apache0.sem
which is 0 bytes in size.
And apache-ssl survives a USR1 signal without problems.

Since the only difference of libmm11 is the added configure switch, this 
cannot easily be fixed by excluding some architectures because UML on i386 is 
still i386.One more reason for subarches I guess :/
