Andy Rourke (Smiths Bass Player) replaces Mani (Primal Scream)
It is with regret that CPU Records have to announce
that Mani has had to pull out of the upcoming CPU gigs in Wexford and Dublin.
This is due to the death of one of Manis close friends. He would like to let
anyone know who was coming to see him that he is sorry he can't appear. He has
promised to appear for CPU in October so stayed tuned.
The good news is
that in his place for both Wexford and Dublin CPU shows is the bass player from
Legendary guitar group 'The Smiths' Andy Rourke
Andy Rourke
is now playing with Vinny Perculiar alongside other Smiths member Mike
Joyce who he regularly DJ's with. Uncut magazine recently said about this
band
'A splendid dose of self deprecating mirth somewhere between
Badly Drawn Boy and Baby Bird...if Tony Hancock had made pop records they would
have sounded like this'
Maybe all you Smiths fans will get to hear
some of this material in Andys set.
Andy who has worked
co-writting some songs with Morrisey after The Smiths has notched up an
impressive catalogue also working alongside Badly Drawn Boy, Bonehead
(Oasis), Sinead O'Connor, The Pretenders, Aziz Ibrahim
(guitar player Stone Roses and Ian Brown-solo) and Jeep to name but a
few. Over the past few years he has being DJing everywhere recently appearing in
Glastonbury. Andy stepped in at the last minute to replace Mani, much to the
relief of all at CPU, who are delighted to have such an influential musican
headline one of their shows.
Thankfully the other acts on the bill stay the same
so in The Regal Lodge in Wexford on Friday the 24th September the lineup
is
Andy Rourke, The Subtonics, StoneOcean, Subscene
And in
The Hub, Dublin On Saturday 25th September the lineup is
Andy Rourke,
The Subtonics, StoneOcean, Grum
Tickets are available at the door
from 8:00pm @€10
We aplogise to
anyone who was coming to see Mani at these shows but hopefully you'll come along
anyway for what should be a great night.
