err... no, it doesn't.  Domain names sometimes start with a number (eg
3com.com) and they're certainly allowed to be uppercase.  according to
man 7 ascii, we get our choice of:

SPACE ! " # $ % & ' ( ) * + , - . /

None are particularly appetising.  Maybe +?
