Package: apache
Version: 1.3.9-10
Severity: normal

I accidentally filed this bug against the libapache-mod-python
initially. Basic idea is, my CGI scripts, of any type, cause the
Apache package to go up in flames.

Snippage from the libapache-mod-python mail:

>The module seems to be moderately useless on my potato-latest
>system. It seems to work fine, except roughly once every 40 requests
>the apache child process running Python request simply segfaults.
>
>Example log snippet:
>[Wed Nov 17 09:37:42 1999] [notice] child pid 16322 exit signal Segmentation fault (11)
>[Wed Nov 17 09:37:36 1999] [notice] child pid 16317 exit signal Segmentation fault (11)
>[Wed Nov 17 09:37:37 1999] [notice] child pid 16318 exit signal Segmentation fault (11)

It seems that following cgi is enough to cause the problem:

#!/bin/ash
#-*-ksh-*-
#
# $Id: test.sh $
#
# Author: Markus Stenberg <markus.stenberg@abacus-solutions.com>

#

echo "Content-type: text/html"
echo
echo "Hello, World!"

Apache packages installed:
ii apache 1.3.9-10 Versatile, high-performance HTTP server
ii apache-common 1.3.9-10 Support files for all Apache webservers
ii libapache-mod-p 4.19-1 Embedding Python in the Apache web server
ii libapache-mod-s 2.4.2-1.3.9-1 Strong cryptography for Apache
ii libapache-mod-s 2.4.2-1.3.9-1 Documentation for Apache module mod_ssl

Configuration is almost out-of-the-box, with cgi_script mapped to .cgi. The
test.{sh,py} are symlinked to test.cgi for cgi_script testing
purposes.

test.py was used to crash the libapache-mod-python.

Linux dreamland.nowhere 2.2.13ac3-reiserfs #14 Wed Nov 10 14:37:26 EET 1999 i686 unknown

System is potato-latest, as of today. Start time of the problem is unknown.

This bug is not present in the current unstable version, it seems, so
I'm just closing this bug.
