As googleearth-package maintainer, I'd like to give more details on this situation/it's current condition, as well give you some news regarding its development.
I'm aware of the multiarch problem for some time now, and have made and finished the new version of package which deals with this matter. I have package laying around for some time, it's just that I haven't uploaded it yet.
The biggest reason why I didn't get to upload it is because I've just moved to Amsterdam last week and was/am incredibly busy.
As this version fixes vast number of bugs and brings many new improvements. I still want to do some minor tweaks before I upload it. Regardless, I will give my best to push this new version (googleearth-package v1.0) this upcoming weekend.
