I am in doubt how to set shmmax for a four sockets (dual-opteron 875) motherboard Supermicro H8QC8. Each memory bank at each socket if filled 1A 2GB, 1B 2GB, 2A 1GB, 2B 1GB. Is the setting kernel.shmmax=3000000000 kernel.shmall=24000000000 correct? This is a later thought, if relevant at all, once a new computational code I am dealing with warns about the importance of setting correctly the memory per CPU (shmmax). thanks francesco pietra
