Core Dumped during "aticonfig --initial"

Please help in any way with the following problem.  Let me know if you need any additional information.  I have also attached the installation log file.

Many thanks

Graphics Manufacturer:

ATI Technologies Inc.

Product:

FireGL V7300

Summary:

Core dump during "aticonfig --initial"

Details:

I have installed the driver version 8.37.6 (downloaded for the ATI support web site) using express installation. I found that version 8.37.6 is the only driver that supports Xorg 7.2. The log file seems to indicate a smooth installation. When I do "aticonfig --initial", I get the following messages:

*** glibc detected *** aticonfig: munmap_chunk(): invalid pointer: 0x00007fffda692a3c ***
